Why offline redaction matters
Server-based redaction tools require you to hand over your most sensitive documents — bank statements, legal filings, medical records, signed contracts — to a stranger's computer. "We delete it after 24 hours" is a promise, not a guarantee. This tool makes no promises because it has nothing to delete: rendering, blacking out, and rebuilding all happen locally with pdf.js and pdf-lib. Air-gapped, restricted, or in-flight networks are no problem.
Is the redaction permanent?
Yes. Unlike tools that place a black box over the text (which anyone can move or delete in a PDF editor), the exported file is rebuilt from rasterized pixels — the original text no longer exists in the output. This is the same technique Acrobat's Redact tool uses.
